Overview

The Master Plant Technician is a highly skilled individual contributor responsible for coaching, troubleshooting, tearing down, and rebuilding all equipment on-site. This role involves using advanced tools, welding, and cutting to maintain and repair plant machinery while developing talent and ensuring operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-shift and post-shift equipment inspections, lubricate moving parts, and complete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and replace basic mechanical components, including conveyor belts, idlers, pulleys, and water pumps.
  • Perform structural repairs, hard facing, and replace heavy wear-parts using welding, cutting, and grinding equipment.
  • Adhere to MSHA and OSHA regulations, execute Lockout/Tagout protocols, and maintain a hazard-free work area.
  • Observe aggregate crushing, washing, and screening areas during operation to identify anomalies and perform minor adjustments.
  • Record and maintain service logs, lubrication reports, and maintenance records for plant equipment.

Requirements

  • Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program in a technical field is preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 plus years of experience in operations, preferably within the aggregate industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in welding, cutting torches, and using power/hand tools.
  • MSHA Certified or willingness to complete required MSHA training.
  • An active valid driver's license.
