Overview

PumpMan, a Harrington Company, is a leading provider of pump systems and on-site maintenance and repair services for customers in various market sectors. The Machinist role involves operating machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual lathes and end mills to make parts for rebuilding water pumps.
• Disassemble and rebuild turbine, centrifugal, and short coupled pumps.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and precision instruments.
• Align and secure fixtures, cutting tools, machines, and materials.
• Monitor feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
• Machine parts to specifications using various machine tools.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units for defects.
• Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on shop equipment.
• Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials for machinery work.
• Troubleshoot and repair shop machinery.
• Complete daily maintenance and repair reports.
• Maintain and secure work tools.
• Clean and maintain work area.
• Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Requirements

• Demonstrate manual threading inside and outside of tubes in the machine shop.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines.
• Skill in production of parts with extremely close tolerances.
• Ability to repair, dismantle, install, or move machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Knowledge of maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Ability to perform inspections and make necessary adjustments.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
• Maintain knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and maintenance.
• Demonstrate proficiency in knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control.
• Consistently display ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
• Prefer 2 years of experience.
