Overview

Novelis is a leader in aluminum recycling and rolling, providing sustainable aluminum solutions across various markets. The Kennesaw Joining and Forming Team is seeking an Engineer to develop technologies and expertise in aluminum joining, primarily for automotive applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Science and Engineering advances in Joining to innovate new ideas in application.
  • Lead large internal and external customer-focused projects from concept to completion.
  • Provide technical sharing and knowledge dissemination in Joining.
  • Solve customer aluminum joining issues and identify potential knowledge gaps.
  • Leverage data and techniques to inform customer design constraints.
  • Provide technical competency in aluminum joining.
  • Write technical reports and support patent filing.
  • Adhere to company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical, Materials/Metallurgical or Welding Engineering with 3-5 years’ experience or M.S./Ph.D. with 1-2 years’ experience.
  • Track record of developing joining technologies for automotive OEMs or other industries.
  • Demonstrated management skills in planning, resourcing, and execution.
  • Experience presenting project highlights and outcomes to collaborators.
  • Capacity to evaluate customer needs and adapt to changing goals.
  • Knowledge of aluminum alloy systems and their applications.
  • Experience in sheet metal joining with practical experience in various joining methods.
  • Knowledge of the impact of material properties on joining processes.
  • Knowledge of robotic programming.
  • Understanding of business impacts related to joining technology and equipment.
  • Knowledge of methods to measure and monitor Joining operations.
