Overview

The Senior Associate Energy Plant Ops/Maintenance Technician monitors and operates the Energy plant's cooling, heating, and utility systems under the direction of the Energy Plant Operations and Maintenance Supervisor. This role ensures a continuous supply of services to users and assists in monitoring the Energy Plaza computer control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assists to start-up, operate and shutdown mechanical, electrical, and other energy production systems.
  • Monitors and operates district-cooling centrifugal chillers and associated support/distribution systems.
  • Detects malfunctions in equipment by routine inspections and recommends corrective actions.
  • Operates the computer console to monitor and control utility related systems.
  • Performs chemical analysis on various water systems.
  • Briefs the Senior Energy Plant Operations and Maintenance Technician on shift regarding operations status.
  • Compiles operational data and maintains logs for management and operations staff reviews.
  • Assists with the maintenance of the utility plants and performs light to moderate maintenance on equipment.
  • Assists the Environmental Affairs Department in field observations of Airport activities.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent.
  • Two years of industrial power plant operations, maintenance, or related field experience.
  • Formal training in industrial trades such as Electrical systems, HVAC, Plumbing, Welding, pipefitting, or millwright work.
  • Must pass a medical physical examination.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical aptitude to operate or perform maintenance of chillers, pumps, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to learn to operate a computer control console and analyze alarms.
  • Knowledge of networking basics.
  • Ability to work rotating shift assignments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings.

Additional Information

  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge within thirty days from date of employment.
  • This is a designated safety sensitive position requiring a drug test prior to employment and random drug screenings.
  • Must successfully complete Energy Plaza Operator Technician Program within nine months from date of hire.
