Overview

Heaviside Industries is focused on building multi-domain autonomous precision munitions for U.S. and allied forces, emphasizing the need for economical precision strike capabilities in modern warfare. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical design of munition airframe structures and will work closely with in-house production teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical design of munition airframe structures, mechanisms, and payload packaging from concept through production.
• Lead structural design and analysis for airframes subject to various loads and conditions.
• Design for tactical environments, ensuring compliance with MIL-STD-810.
• Drive design-for-manufacture across various materials and processes.
• Own thermal management design for avionics and RF payload packaging.
• Develop single-use-reliability mechanisms and actuation systems.
• Release production-ready drawing packages with rigorous GD&T and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
• 1–3 years of hands-on mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and creating production-ready drawings with GD&T.
• Working knowledge of machining, sheet metal, composites, or additive processes.
• Comfort doing structural analysis by hand and with FEA tools.
• Hands-on experience building projects and being on the shop floor.
• U.S. Person as defined by ITAR.
