Overview

This entry-level position for a Structural Engineer 1 at Sargent & Lundy, targeting a start date in summer 2027, offers the opportunity to apply and expand knowledge in structural engineering while working on projects related to nuclear facilities. The role involves collaboration with a diverse team of engineers and designers.

Responsibilities

  • Team up with engineers and designers from various disciplines in the design of new nuclear facilities and modifications.
  • Prepare design calculations and develop specifications.
  • Support designers with drawing development.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations.
  • Conduct structural analyses including loading conditions such as wind and seismic.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Completion of coursework in steel and concrete design.
  • Knowledge of practical application of structural engineering including loads analysis.
  • Understanding of structural design techniques and principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
