Responsibilities

  • Run pipe and structural welding crews.
  • Research technical drawings and materials for job requirements.
  • Communicate job scope and progress with customers and management.
  • Position, align, fit, and weld parts according to blueprints.
  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications.
  • Lay out and examine metal stock to ensure specifications are met.
  • Align and fit parts using various tools.
  • Locate and mark work piece bending and cutting lines.
  • Position or tighten braces and clamps for welding.
  • Study engineering drawings to determine material requirements.
  • Plan sequence of re-tubes to avoid obstructions.
  • Oversee and direct craft labor in daily activities.
  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, including safety protocols.
  • Travel as required, up to 50% of the time.
  • Support peers and management with projects.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years’ experience running welding crews.
  • Experience with pipe fitting and assembly of boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels.
  • Proficient with cutting torch and carbon arc gouging.
  • SMAW and GTAW certifications.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for TIG and Stick work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process.
