Overview

Dorchester Canopies LLC, a family owned and operated awning and canopy company in the USA for the last 125 years, has an immediate opening for a welder - beginners to experienced. The company is known for designing and manufacturing premium canopies and awnings, focusing on quality and durability.

Responsibilities

  • MIG welding experience required.
  • Read and work from blueprints or shop drawings.
  • Understand welding symbols and settings.
  • Read and understand tape measurements.
  • Layout and tack weld assemblies.
  • Operate press brake, shear, iron worker/punch, and drill press.
  • Operate overhead crane and forklift.
  • Torch and saw cut materials.
  • Grind and clean materials and assemblies.
  • Properly label materials.
  • Prepare materials for powder coating.
  • Load, band, and stack materials in an orderly manner.
  • Assist in loading and unloading deliveries.
  • Maintain safe operating procedures.
  • Follow directions and prioritize projects.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
  • Lift at least 80 lbs.
  • Follow safety procedures and protocols.
  • Be dependable and hardworking.
  • Show willingness to learn and get along with co-workers.
  • Read and write in English.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 - 5 years' of MIG experience.
  • TIG, STICK, PIPE WELDING experience is a plus.
  • Basic ability to read and work from blueprints.
  • Ability to read and understand tape measurements.
  • Can-do attitude.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG, TIG, and Stick work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
