Overview

Farm Service Elevator, an affiliate of Life-Science Innovations, processes 6.5 million bushels of corn to manufacture poultry feed. They are seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to perform general maintenance of feed mill equipment, ensuring optimal production and minimal downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform overall general maintenance of feed mill equipment.
  • Maintain and repair mechanical, electro-mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Identify root causes of complex mechanical and electrical issues and repair them.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment in and around the elevator.
  • Research and present ideas for permanent fixes for recurring problems.
  • Maintain written inventory of tools, parts, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Keep the shop clean and organized.
  • Ensure equipment operates safely and in compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions.
  • Work in compliance with all company and regulatory policies.
  • Uphold FSE Safety Culture.
  • Cover dryers during harvest when needed.
  • May back up Mill Operators as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Associate or Technical degree preferred.
  • Special Boiler License or ability to acquire within 6 months.
  • Knowledge of Feed Mill operations and FSMA requirements.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines related to maintenance work.
  • Communication skills to effectively work with various people.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive demeanor.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Skill in using wire feed welder, arc welder, and cutting torch.
  • Skill in operating forklift, skid loader, and pay loader.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude in various skill areas.
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Additional Information

  • Core working hours: 6:00am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday with some flexibility.
  • Ability to work weekends and nights as call-ins are required.
