Overview

As a Project Quality Inspector B at Caterpillar Inc., you will be part of a global team focused on creating sustainable communities through quality inspections of Oil & Gas process equipment. This role involves performing various inspections and collaborating with multiple departments to ensure compliance and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document quality inspections of Oil & Gas process equipment.
• Conduct welding, machining, and coatings inspections of gas turbine structural skids.
• Coordinate welding NDE and material traceability verification for piping spool segments.
• Own inspection activities for material inspection orders for piping and structural assemblies.
• Host customers and 3rd party inspectors for in-process inspections.
• Comply with Environmental, Health and Safety Programs, Regulations and Guidelines.
• Collect, validate, and document material test reports for incoming materials.
• Perform visual testing of structural and piping weld assemblies.
• Request and document results of welding NDE activities.
• Lead fabrication inspection points with customers and 3rd party inspectors.
• Audit and verify industrial coatings application and characterization.
• Prepare piping pressure testing packages and validate equipment calibration certificates.
• Assist in training less experienced Welding Inspectors.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience as a Q.C. Inspector with minimal supervision.
• 1-3 years of experience in pipe fitting or welding.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Experience in welding NDE, receiving material inspection, and fabrication environments.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and engineering specifications.
• Technical certifications such as Certified Weld Inspector, AMPP-NACE Level 1, ASNT Visual Testing Level 2.
• Proficiency in computer and MS Office suite tools.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
