Overview

Virgin Galactic is seeking a highly motivated Structures Specialist Technician to support the Manufacturing team in Mesa, focusing on safety in human spaceflight through design and assembly efforts. The role involves unique bonding and assembly processes for spaceship airframes.

Responsibilities

• Assist in leading and supporting the manufacturing team in installation, design, development, and testing of parts and technologies.
• Fabricate and assemble composite parts and assemblies of varying complexities and sizes.
• Utilize shop tools and machinery safely and correctly.
• Drill a variety of hole sizes in composite and metal structures.
• Work hands-on with multiple fastener types.
• Encourage and provide development opportunities for technicians.
• Train technicians on-the-job and through instructor-led training.
• Practice safety behavior and FOD awareness/prevention.
• Adhere to directions and guidelines from team leaders.
• Ensure quality and efficiency of installations and provide troubleshooting guidance.
• Adhere to assembly instructions for complex project assemblies.
• Work collaboratively to achieve goals and complete assigned tasks.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of four years’ experience as a technician in aerospace or manufacturing.
• Understanding and familiarity with multiple types of fasteners.
• Knowledge of proper drill speeds and feeds for materials.
• Understanding of hole angularity and tolerances.
• Experience with leading projects and mentoring.
• Experience with manufacturing-based ERP systems.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and models.

• Work Schedule: 4/10 Onsite Monday through Thursday Night Shift (4:00pm – 2:30am).
• Potential Future Work Schedules: 4/10 Onsite Monday through Thursday Day Shift (6:00am – 4:30pm) and 4/10 Onsite Thursday through Sunday Day Shift (6:00am – 4:30pm).
