Overview

Wisestaff is urgently hiring Full-Time Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN/LPN) with one or more years of MedSurg/Tele or Acute care LVN experience for the inpatient unit at San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), a Level One Trauma Center and the largest inpatient Military Hospital.

Responsibilities

• Observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress; assist physicians during treatments and examinations.
• Administer medication and prescribed treatments, complete admissions and discharges, and promote convalescence and rehabilitation.
• Assess patients' conditions for potential or life-threatening crises and distinguish between normal and abnormal physical findings.
• Initiate life-saving measures in the absence of a physician.
• Operate emergency equipment such as defibrillators and cardiac monitors.
• React with alertness and skill in emergency situations, initiating life-saving measures as needed.
• Document all patient care given and the progress of the patient utilizing SAMMC/WHASC documentation standards.

Requirements

• Minimum of 12 months Full-time experience in MedSurg or Acute Care within the last 24 months.
• Must have up-to-date LVN License and BLS certification.
• Must be able to pass a background check for government clearance.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing by the National League of Nursing.
• Valid Licensed Vocational Nurse LVN/LPN Nursing license from any US jurisdiction.
• Competent in demonstrating neurovascular assessment, tracheostomy care, and care of patients with chest tubes.
• Available to rotate from day shifts to night shifts every 3 months.
• Telemetry experience required and must pass the BAMC annual Cardiac Telemetry Test.

• Schedule is 100% managed by BAMC facility leadership, requiring full availability.
• Each inpatient unit determines the LVN's 40 hrs/week schedule based on staffing requirements.
