Overview

Arc is on a mission to electrify the marine industry by rethinking powertrains, software, and vessel designs. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own major boat systems and contribute to the development of innovative marine technology.

Responsibilities

  • Own major boat systems from specification through design, prototyping, validation, and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Design and release hardware across the full boat, including composite structures, interiors, mechanisms, and marine systems.
  • Define system requirements and lead design reviews, making tradeoffs across performance, weight, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Lead prototyping through on-water testing, root-causing failures, and driving fixes into production.
  • Integrate with battery, powertrain, electrical, and controls teams on packaging and interfaces.
  • Partner with industrial design, suppliers, and manufacturing on DFM and next-generation products.
  • Mentor engineers and set the technical bar for the team.
  • Work hands-on in production or travel to suppliers when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field.
  • 5+ years of industry experience, including taking hardware from concept through production.
  • Expert in CAD (NX preferred, CATIA, or SolidWorks) with strong command of PLM systems (Teamcenter preferred).
  • Experience working with composite structures.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with hands-on use of hand calcs and FEA to validate designs.
  • Proven design for manufacturing experience releasing parts to suppliers.
  • Hands-on experience in fabrication, assembly, and testing.
  • Ability to lead technical decisions and defend them with data.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with strong prioritization at a fast but sustainable pace.
