Overview

The R&D Mechanical Engineer role involves supporting the innovation and development of new products from concept through commercialization, collaborating with various teams to create reliable and manufacturable designs. This position is essential for continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical components, systems, and assemblies using SolidWorks and other engineering tools.
  • Support full life cycle product development from concept, prototype, testing, validation, and manufacturing release.
  • Create and evaluate prototype designs using various manufacturing methods.
  • Plan, conduct, and document product testing to improve product performance and reliability.
  • Generate manufacturing drawings, bills of material, technical documentation, and engineering reports.
  • Design products with the end user in mind, focusing on installation, durability, maintenance access, and repairability.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, manufacturing, sales, and engineering teams to ensure designs meet requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing partners to review design intent and manufacturability feedback.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve concerns related to product design and performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts based on feedback and test data.
  • Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
  • 0–5 years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, including design, assemblies, and related documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles and product development.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site in Tempe, AZ.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
