Overview

Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas and is involved in the repair, rebuild, overhaul, and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. The Sheet Metal Mechanic position focuses on fabricating and assembling sheet metal components for maintenance and repair tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate door frames and covers with sheet metal.
  • Assemble and set up parts to be welded for repair or maintenance.
  • Apply shop mathematics to determine dimensions and figure irregular curves, angles and pitch.
  • Determine welding techniques and machine settings to be utilized for maintenance and repairs.
  • Utilize soldering, spot welding, electric welding or acetylene welding to assemble fabricated parts.
  • Utilize blueprints, work orders and specifications to perform maintenance, fabrication or repairs on sheet metal projects.
  • Devise templates and patterns having curved edges or irregular shapes for the purpose of constructing and assembling objects.

  • RRAD is located 19 miles west of Texarkana and approximately 170 miles northeast of Dallas.
  • The depot is near the corners of 4 states - Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.
