Overview

Kymera International is seeking a Thermal Spray Technician for the evening shift to support the preparation and application of thermal spray coatings to various metals. The ideal candidate should have machining experience and a strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic thermal spray operations under guidance.
  • Assist with equipment setup, part preparation, masking, and material staging.
  • Follow established work instructions and process parameters to apply coatings.
  • Learn and understand fundamentals of thermal spray processes and materials.
  • Read and follow work orders, blueprints, and technical instructions.
  • Measure coating thickness using standard gauges and record results.
  • Assist with producing test samples for quality verification.
  • Maintain proper spray gun positioning and handling techniques.
  • Support routine equipment cleaning and basic maintenance tasks.
  • Report equipment issues, coating defects, or process concerns.
  • Follow all safety procedures, quality requirements, and operational guidelines.
  • Ensure parts meet coating and dimensional requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S principles.
  • Accurately record work performed and production data.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules.
  • Assist higher-level technicians with setup, inspections, and troubleshooting.
  • Actively develop technical skills and knowledge through training.
  • Demonstrate willingness to learn new equipment and techniques.
  • Complete assigned documentation accurately with supervision.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
  • Participate in safety meetings and required training programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a machine shop environment is ideal, but training will be provided.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of operational experience applying HVOF thermal spray technologies.
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining plasma spray coating equipment preferred.
  • Previous experience assisting with machining operations and thermal spray technology required.
  • Ability to learn lathe operations and advanced techniques.
  • Experience working with metals in a machine shop or industrial setting preferred.
  • Ability to learn precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Attention to detail and ability to ensure high quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to learn troubleshooting for thermal spray machinery.
  • Reliability in maintaining good attendance and punctuality.
  • Good communication skills for collaboration with team members.
  • Ability to adapt to change and maintain flexibility.
  • Safety awareness and commitment to a safe work environment.
  • Eligibility for employment in the US.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings.

  • Work Location: Kymera – CASL Houston, TX (Spring) Onsite
  • Shift: Evening Shift 2:00PM-10:30PM plus OT as needed
