Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic position involves skilled mechanical equipment repair work on gasoline and diesel powered automotive stock and heavy equipment. The role requires performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on various types of fleet equipment while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled mechanical repair and overhaul work on various types of fleet equipment.
  • Repair, rebuild, or replace hydraulic equipment and various types of transmissions.
  • Conduct diagnostic and repair procedures on ignition systems and vehicle electrical systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on gasoline and diesel power equipment.
  • Weld and modify equipment, including fabrication of parts.
  • Create requisitions and maintain records of labor, parts, and supplies used.
  • Comply with safety regulations and participate in the shop Safety Program.
  • Test and inspect completed work for proper performance.
  • Provide direction and training to less experienced employees when necessary.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to respond to emergency callouts and make repairs under pressure.
  • Ability to read and understand complex hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with ladder logic and PLC programming.
  • Ability to retrofit and adapt engineered components on existing equipment.
  • Diagnose problems and maintain a variety of bulk material handling equipment.
  • Skill in the use of hand and machine tools, testing equipment, and welders.
  • Must be able to secure and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card).
