Overview

We are seeking an experienced MIG Welder to join our manufacturing team building and repairing heavy-duty dump bodies and truck equipment. The ideal candidate will have proven experience welding abrasion-resistant materials and producing high-quality welds that meet company and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG welding on dump body assemblies, subassemblies, and components.
  • Weld abrasion-resistant materials and structural steel used in dump body construction.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, fabrication drawings, and work instructions.
  • Fit, align, tack, and weld structural components including sidewalls, floors, tailgates, hoists, cross members, and understructures.
  • Operate welding equipment, plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, grinders, and fabrication tools.
  • Inspect welds for quality, penetration, appearance, and adherence to specifications.
  • Perform repairs and modifications on dump bodies and truck body equipment as required.
  • Follow approved welding procedures when working with AR materials to minimize cracking, distortion, and quality defects.
  • Assist with fabrication, assembly, and installation of dump body components.
  • Follow all OSHA, company safety, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 6S principles.
  • Clean and maintain welding stations, fixtures, tools, and surrounding work areas throughout the shift.
  • Remove weld slag, weld spatter, scrap material, and debris promptly to prevent safety hazards and quality issues.
  • Inspect and clean welds as required, ensuring slag and spatter are removed prior to moving parts to subsequent operations.
  • Take ownership of weld quality by identifying and correcting defects such as incomplete fusion, undercut, porosity, excessive spatter, and slag inclusions.
  • Maintain work areas in an inspection-ready condition at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of MIG welding experience in heavy equipment, truck body, trailer, dump body, or structural steel fabrication.
  • Demonstrated experience welding abrasion-resistant materials used in heavy-duty applications.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand welding symbols.
  • Experience using measuring devices including tape measures, squares, levels, and calipers.
  • Knowledge of welding procedures for thick-gauge steel and heavy-duty applications.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Strong attention to quality, workmanship, and detail.
