Responsibilities

  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Perform cleanup duties.
  • Perform material handling and storage duties.
  • Identify, use, and care of common hand and power tools.
  • Use and care of craft specific tools and equipment.
  • Apply craft related mathematics.
  • Use common hitches, emergency stop signals, basic crane hand signals, knot tying, and rigging equipment.
  • Apply safety standards and best practices relevant to rigging.
  • Inspect rigging equipment and hardware.
  • Review construction drawings and blueprints for specifications.
  • Read and interpret welding detail drawings.
  • Perform oxyfuel cutting operations.
  • Perform preheat and post-weld heat treatment operations.
  • Prepare base metal.
  • Ensure joint fit-up and alignment.
  • Perform welds that meet project quality standards.
  • Demonstrate ability to weld in required process specific positions.
  • Set up and operate welding machines and equipment.
  • Select and use appropriate filler material.
  • Read welding symbols on drawings and specifications.
  • Perform air carbon arc cutting and gouging.
  • Perform weld identification.

  • Understand and carry out oral instructions.

  • Comprehend and respond to audible/visual instructions, alarms, and warnings.
  • Climb/balance on ladders, scaffolding, and structures.
  • Kneel for work positioning.
  • Reach above shoulders and away from body.
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity.
