Overview

This position serves as a Welder Inspector assigned to the Maintenance and Repair Section of St. Paul District's Physical Support Branch, utilizing Direct Hire Authority to recruit qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding duties using oxygen/acetylene and electric welding processes.
  • Inspect to locate and identify defects such as cracks, fissures, separations, and cavities.
  • Interpret technical data from various drawing manuals, specifications, blueprints, and sketches.
  • Fabricate floating work barges, water tanks, vats, and equipment like fuel tanks and buoyancy tanks.
  • Fit work processes including position tack-welding, flame, and plasma cutting.
  • Utilize a variety of hand and power tools in welding, fabrication, and sheet metal trades.
  • Interpret and explain repair and inspection requirements.
