  • Partner with RF and PCB engineers on SWaP trades and mechanical interfaces.
  • Own mechanical interface control documents with customers and integrators.
  • Lead mechanical content at design reviews and ensure documentation control.
  • Establish the mechanical engineering practice and mentor engineers.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of mechanical design experience, including hardware that has flown or been qualified for flight.
  • Expert-level CAD skills, preferably in SolidWorks, and detailed drawings with GD&T to ASME Y14.5.
  • Demonstrated ownership of thermal design for vacuum environments.
  • Structural analysis and FEA experience covering random vibration and shock.

How this job compares

Certifications this posting mentions

  • ASME Section IX — the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code qualification. It covers welding on pressure-retaining equipment — boilers, vessels, and process piping — where a failed weld is a safety incident rather than a rework ticket.

Read straight from this posting's text. Confirm the exact qualification the employer wants before you test — requirements vary by shop even under the same code.

Pay figures are medians computed from live postings in the Welding Pros index, not from survey data, and they move as employers post. Senior Avionics Mechanical Engineer figures were last recalculated when this page was built.
