Overview

CHM Industries is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join our Engineering Department. The role involves developing engineering proposals, overseeing the design of steel pole products, and leading process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Design steel pole transmission structures, including monopoles, H-frames, and 3-pole structures.
• Perform design calculations using in-house spreadsheets, programs, and structural analysis software.
• Deliver accurate, high-quality proposals and jobs on schedule.
• Review calculations and drawings to confirm they meet customer standards and applicable specifications, codes, and design standards.
• Prepare design packages and verify that proposal and project requirements are met.
• Support the sales team with technical input on quotes and new opportunities.
• Train internal and external sales staff on applying engineering principles in the sales process, plant capabilities and procedures, and product applications.
• Continuously improve the design manual, standard drawings, and best practices.
• Build positive working relationships at all levels of the company and foster teamwork among drafting, Inside Sales, and other functional groups.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in a civil, structural, manufacturing, or industrial setting.
• Proficiency with structural design software such as PLS-POLE, and with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented, with the ability to drive results.
