Overview

Lawrence Doors, Inc., a leader in the commercial door industry and part of the Amarr / ASSA ABLOY Group, is seeking a Metal Fabrication Technician to work in their Production Line. The technician will perform various fabrication and assembly tasks related to the production of commercial roll-up door components.

Responsibilities

• Cut steel tubing, profiles, sheet metal, or channels to specified dimensions.
• Perform MIG welding on structural components such as barrels or guide assemblies.
• Operate lathes, end mills, and presses to modify parts including shafts, tube, and guide structures.
• Punch holes and slots in metal components using mechanical or hydraulic equipment.
• Prepare and install torsion springs according to specifications.
• Assemble metal parts using hand and power tools.
• Inspect fabricated components for accuracy, quality, and structural integrity.
• Document work performed and report any issues or deviations.
• Regularly lift and handle materials weighing over 40 lbs.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, or machining.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience with MIG welding and fabrication machinery is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to different fabrication tasks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
