Overview

Lawrence Doors, Inc., a leader in the commercial door industry and part of the Amarr / ASSA ABLOY Group, is seeking an experienced fabrication welder to support fabrication operations in a manufacturing environment. The role involves assisting in the preparation and welding of components for assembly, requiring basic welding knowledge and a focus on skill development.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic MIG welding, grinding, plasma cutting, and general fabrication to support component preparation.
• Pick, cut, and prepare materials according to simplified fabrication sheet instructions.
• Use torch and plasma cutter to cut and modify materials as required.
• Prepare parts, fittings, and components in advance to support production flow and minimize downtime for assemblers.
• Assist in staging and organizing materials for fabrication and assembly teams.
• Operate forklifts to transport oversized materials and stage them for production.
• Read and follow simplified drawings, fabrication sheets, and work instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately.
• Perform basic inspections of prepared components to ensure they meet required dimensions and specifications.
• Maintain proper material identification and organization throughout the process.
• Accurately and timely record production data, including measurements, output, and job completion details.

Requirements

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and support shared production goals.
• Good communication skills and willingness to collaborate across functions.
• Familiarity with cutting equipment such as band saw and shear press.
• Experience with MIG welding and metal fabrication processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and fabrication sheets.
• Experience operating forklifts (certification preferred).
• Ability to work with heavy materials and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Requires lifting (up to 50lbs), standing, and operating machinery for extended periods.
