Overview
The Mechanical / Welder Foreman at Loenbro, LLC is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of a crew, ensuring work is performed safely and professionally while also planning and training personnel in construction equipment operation. The role involves travel to various locations and requires a strong understanding of structural steel erection and welding.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site supervision to clarify drawings and discrepancies.
- Coordinate interfacing of various trades and provide quality standards.
- Directly work with crews and advise supervisors on personnel performance.
- Assist crew with work as needed.
- Become familiar with project specifications and provide practical advice.
- Review project progress, cost reports, schedules, and completion requirements.
- Recommend changes in methods, schedules, and procedures.
- Maintain a close working relationship with supervisors for project coordination.
- Ensure proper paper flow of information from field to supervisor.
- Enforce company policies and programs on the project.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, serviced, and stored properly.
- Maintain quality standards and a neat job site.
- Foster a positive work atmosphere with effective communication.
- Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts following blueprints.
- Assemble hoisting equipment and rigging for moving heavy materials.
- Bolt structural-steel members in position for installation.
- Perform welding activities with minimal supervision.
- Set up welding equipment according to the appropriate process.
- Complete weldments to AWS welding code and blueprint requirements.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts.
- Perform minor maintenance on job-related equipment.
- Assume responsibility for assigned tools and equipment.
- Observe and practice safety procedures and policies.
- Be comfortable working from heights.
- Attend work as attendance is an essential function.
- Supply and own basic ironworking tools.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience as an ironworker journeyman including 2 years in a supervisory position.
- Strong understanding of structural steel erection, hoisting, and rigging.
- Ability to work independently and plan work according to schedules.
- OSHA and other Health and Safety certifications are desirable.
- High School diploma or equivalent experience.
- Must be able to pass a structural weld test 3G/4G (ARC & MIG).
