Overview

Hunter Contracting Co. is a family-owned, heavy civil contracting firm serving Arizona since 1961, seeking hard-working and professional individuals to join their team as Millwrights. The role involves installing, repairing, and dismantling machinery and heavy equipment at water and wastewater treatment plants.

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Unloads and inspects new equipment and machinery then moves it into position using hoisting devices.
• Assembles and installs equipment using hand tools and power tools.
• Constructs foundation for machines using hand tools and building materials.
• Assembles machines and fastens them to foundation or other structures using tools.
• Attaches moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit.
• Bolts parts to basic assembly unit.
• Connects power units to machines or steam piping and tests unit to evaluate operation.
• Aligns gears and wheels, attaches motors, and connects belts according to blueprints.
• Dismantles machinery and equipment for shipment to installation site.
• Installs shims, adjusts tension on nuts and bolts, or positions parts using measuring instruments.
• Operates engine lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to specifications.
• Repairs and lubricates machines and equipment.
• Replaces defective parts of machine or adjusts clearances and alignment.
• Works closely with electricians, engineers, and manufacturer’s representatives.
• Adheres to all safety policies and procedures.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a related field.
• Completion of a formal Apprenticeship program or equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Knowledge of load bearing properties of ropes, cables, hoists, and cranes.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans.
• Ability to determine causes of operating errors and solve problems using mathematics.
• Strong command of the English language, including spelling, composition, and grammar.
• Ability to apply general rules to specific problems.
• Ability to estimate measurements and make decisions based on measurable information.
• Uses logical step-by-step procedures and approaches work meticulously.
• Ability to work at various heights without fear.
