Cemex US is a leader in the building materials industry, committed to delivering innovative products and services. The Mechanic role involves diagnosing and repairing diesel tractors, trailers, and other wheeled vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and diagnose vehicle problems, and repair according to accepted methods.
  • Discuss extensive or difficult repairs with Terminal Manager or Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate and enforce CEMEX safety policies and regulations to all mechanics.
  • Ensure shop and repairs comply with OSHA regulations.
  • Perform routine scheduled maintenance outlined on PM checklist sheets.
  • Plan all routine work procedures.
  • Raise vehicles with hydraulic jack or hoist for access to mechanical components.
  • Remove components for repair or replacement, such as alternators, starters, and more.
  • Disassemble components, inspect parts for wear, and determine cause of failure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems and components.
  • Inspect and replace parts such as clutches, wheel seals, and brake linings.
  • Overhaul and rebuild serviceable components.
  • Travel regionally to repair company equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems and circuitry.
  • Perform occasional cutting and welding using gas and electric welding equipment.
  • Replace and adjust headlights, and install and repair accessories.
  • Enter work orders on system for equipment inventory purposes.
  • Adhere to all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA rules and regulations.
  • Wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
  • Meet or exceed company safety standards.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years related experience or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Able to understand, interpret, communicate, and execute instructions in both verbal and written form.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Possession of valid Driver's License; prefer Class A or Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 180 days.
  • Forklift certified or willing to obtain.
  • TWIC preferred or willing to obtain.
