Overview
The HEM (Industrial Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining machinery and production equipment throughout the plant, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, engines, motors, and conveyor systems.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains machinery and production equipment.
- Observes mechanical devices and equipment in operation to determine proper condition.
- Demonstrates proficiency in start-up and shutdown of press systems.
- Understands press and critical equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Uses precision measurement equipment as defined in the Training Center.
- Performs structural welding as required.
- Uses oxygen/acetylene torch for cutting and burning materials.
- Understands and troubleshoots basic hydraulic systems using schematics.
- Reads blueprints to fabricate, assemble, and troubleshoot mechanical equipment.
- Applies rigging techniques and procedures.
- Uses mechanical tools and applies acceptable mechanical principles.
- Repairs or replaces defective parts, lubricates, and cleans equipment.
- Understands high pressure equipment and Lockout Tagout procedures.
- Performs preventive or predictive maintenance and inspections.
- Demonstrates knowledge of company and department work and safety procedures.
- Meets physical demands of the job.
- Performs other maintenance and operational duties as directed.
Requirements
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to read and perform tasks using written instructions.
- Ability to read blueprints for fabrication and installation.
- Basic mechanical skills and general knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Ability to read and learn new tasks.
- Must pass a written skills assessment for hydraulic and millwright knowledge.
- Must pass a practical exam for maintenance skills.
- Must perform a structural plate weld test if required.
