Overview

Sturgeon Electric Company, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Welder I to join their manufacturing team. The role involves interpreting specifications, fabricating, and welding metal components to create custom fabrications while adhering to deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and plans to understand project scope and specifications.
• Produce templates and other work aids.
• Provide material take-off and rough drawings when needed.
• Utilize industry tools and equipment, including powered saws, hydraulic press brake, shears, portable grinders, fiber laser, plasma cutter, metal lathes, and mills.
• Use precision measuring tools to inspect grooves and angles.
• Weld parts out of mild steel, galvanized metal, stainless steel, and sheet metal, in flat, vertical, and/or overhead positions.
• Maintain proper equipment; repair when needed.

Requirements

• Hydraulic or CNC Press Brake experience.
• Sheet Metal Lasers experience.
• CNC Table experience.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Follow all safety precautions.
• 3+ years of professional welding experience preferred.
• Sheet metal experience necessary, including Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, and Galvanized materials.
• MIG, TIG, Welder Certification a plus.
• Working knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
• Able to read blueprints.
• Proficient in basic math.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Problem-solving abilities.
