The Welder (Technician/Fabrication) role involves performing various welding tasks and ensuring compliance with specifications in a fast-paced ship production environment.

Responsibilities

• Understand weld symbols and read blueprints and sketches.
• Perform welding tasks using various processes and equipment safely.
• Use weld measurement tools and gauges properly.
• Inspect completed welds for conformance to specifications.
• Work aloft and in confined spaces as required.
• Complete carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel weld certifications.
• Perform structural welding on ship components.
• Prepare work surfaces by grinding, cutting, and cleaning.
• Conduct weld fit-up and tacking according to specifications.
• Inspect all equipment daily.

Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of various metals and welding processes.
• Ability to self-assess quality of work.
• Experience with SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P welding processes.
• Ability to work in various positions including overhead and vertical.
