Overview

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is a leading manufacturer in the refrigeration and food equipment industry, focusing on innovative solutions for food safety and merchandising. The Piper II role involves laying out and installing refrigeration piping and components, ensuring systems run effectively without leaks.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out and install refrigeration piping and components.
  • Install pipe on manufacturing units.
  • Fabricate piping and materials.
  • Assemble systems and ensure they are running effectively and do not leak.
  • Pass Piper II test and have experience with all job requirements of a Piper I.
  • Work with all components of piping systems, including brackets, clamps, and hangers.
  • Study drawings and plan installation based on production standards.
  • Measure, cut, bend, assemble, and install copper and steel tubing.
  • Install refrigeration valves, tubing, and fastening in place.
  • Cut and braze refrigeration components.
  • Pressurize and leak check units.
  • Understand production standards and proper shipping techniques.
  • Handle advanced systems piping and mechanical layout of secondary and CO2 systems.
  • Install pipes for oil reservoir.
  • Assist with training of Piper I.
  • Use tools such as tube cutters, hand vise, power benders, files, flaring/swedging tools, and torch.

Requirements

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school, or one year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
