Overview
ZACHRY/JVIC is seeking an experienced Tack Welder to join their fabrication team at the Pasadena Shop. The Tack Welder will be responsible for welding, fabricating, and assisting pipe fitters in the installation of industrial pipe into piping systems.
Responsibilities
- Comply with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations.
- Identify all tools required for tasks and perform minor maintenance/cleaning of tools.
- Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
- Set up equipment and weld parts using GTAW.
- Read and interpret WPS.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts.
- Operate 4” angle grinder and small die grinder for grinding pipe and fittings.
- Perform tests to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.
- Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
- Report any unsafe conditions to the safety department, supervisor, or management.
- Report all incidents/accidents/injuries involving the health and wellbeing of any employee to management immediately.
Requirements
- Must have 1+ years’ experience with Welding.
- Must have the ability to weld in 2g, 4g, and 6g conditions.
- Must be able to TIG weld on Pipe.
- Must be familiar with the GTAW process.
- Must have current applicable welding certification with Zachry or be able to successfully pass a weld test.
- Must be able to stand for 10 hours, and squat and bend at the waist as needed throughout the day.
- Have the ability to lift at least 50lbs.

Additional Information
- Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
- Must be capable of working outside in the elements including heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
- Must be able to work for long periods of time up to 12 hours a day.
- Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
