Overview
K2 is a Series C space startup focused on building the largest and highest-power satellites for various missions. The company is backed by significant investments and aims to revolutionize spacecraft design for a new era of mass abundance in space exploration.
Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on assembly of the primary and secondary structure, including sheet metal panels, machined parts, and mechanisms.
- Route, install, secure, and inspect avionics and power harnesses on integrated vehicles.
- Install electro-mechanical components including mechanisms, avionics, power, and propulsion hardware.
- Support propulsion system integration and high-pressure operations following released procedures and safety protocols.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, test, quality, and design engineering to resolve hardware issues in real time.
- Follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing procedures, performing all work in the MES system.
- Support cleanroom final integration activities including payload integration, functional testing, troubleshooting, vehicle handling, and shipping preparations.
- Practice 5S principles of organizing and sustaining an efficient and presentable workspace.
- Provide consistent process improvement feedback to engineering and production leadership.
- Occasionally support component assembly in sub-assembly stations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience assembling, integrating, and testing flight hardware in the aerospace industry.
- Proficiency with computers and ability to use MS Office and shop floor management software.
- Familiar with calibrated tools including multi-meters, calipers, torque wrenches, load cells, safety cable guns, and crimpers.
- Demonstrated high level of ownership and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements.

- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as bending or twisting, grasping, standing, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, carrying, and use hands to operate tools or machine controls.
- Must be able to lift and carry parts or equipment up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed.
