Overview
A Trades Generalist performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance repair, installation and construction tasks in the mechanical, building and electrical trades in multiple community residences and other buildings.
Responsibilities
- Perform carpentry duties including installations and repairs of flooring, doors, stairs, railings, and ceiling tiles.
- Conduct minor electrical duties such as replacing receptacles, light fixtures, and circuit breakers.
- Repair, install, and maintain plumbing fixtures and appliances including sinks, showers, baths, and dishwashers.
- Perform painting duties including preparing surfaces, priming, and painting.
- Conduct maintenance and preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment such as exhaust fans and generators.
- Travel daily within the district and may require travel within NY State for special projects.
Requirements
- Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson or equivalent training.
- Valid New York State driver's license for operating motor vehicles.
- Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the trades.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to train and supervise others.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
