McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is seeking a skilled Welder in Phoenix, AZ, with a strong structural and combo welding background. The company is a 100% employee-owned commercial construction firm known for its commitment to safety, integrity, and inclusivity.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Project manager/GF to understand system layout and weld specifications.
  • Develop a complete understanding of the contract drawings and specifications.
  • Utilize industry standards for welding techniques and methods for different types of piping systems and connections.
  • Read and understand orthographic and isometric drawings and visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, checking grooves and angles with precision instruments.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts for welding.
  • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to prevent material distortion.
  • Develop templates and models for welding projects using mathematical calculations.
  • Comprehend documents including safety rules, welding processes, and print specifications.
  • Be proficient in the use of bevellers, threaders, groovers, and other end prep machines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED, High School Equivalence Certificate).
  • Minimum 4 years hands-on Welding experience.
  • Weld certification required or Journeyman Certification is a plus.
  • 6-G Stick, 6-G Wire, 6-G TIG, and MIG certifications required.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.
