Overview

The Mobile Trailer Technician will perform general to moderate level of repairs on trailer chassis, bodies, and accessories, primarily at customer locations and trailer yards. Responsibilities

  • Report to the Body Shop or Service Manager and be assigned daily duties.
  • Review each repair order, work order, and estimator’s notes to understand repairs needed before starting work.
  • Complete all repairs according to the documentation on the repair order or supplement.
  • Perform aluminum and steel welding using MIG and TIG methods.
  • Conduct DOT inspections on semi-trailers by DOT standards.
  • Diagnose simple 12 volt electrical light systems.
  • Have basic knowledge of air brake and ABS systems and repairs.
  • Possess basic metal fabrication ability.
  • Adapt to perform similar repairs on various types and brands of components.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Two years’ experience in trailer repair.
  • Certified in aluminum and steel welding; both MIG and TIG welding.
  • May require additional certification depending on the type of tankers worked on.
  • Valid driver’s license and must be insurable.
