SPX Technologies is a global company focused on building innovative solutions for a safer and more efficient world. The Welder position involves fitting and welding various materials under the direction of the Machine Shop Manager, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

  • Set up welding machines based on job specifications.
  • Set up welding cells for serial production runs.
  • TIG/MIG weld mild steel, aluminum, and stainless-steel components according to blueprints.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and work orders.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to maximize productivity.
  • Inspect production parts through visual and measurement tests.
  • Maintain equipment through preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Follow all safety rules and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine welding requirements.
  • Document and communicate actions and irregularities with the production team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of welding experience.
  • Experience with mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Experience with TIG and/or MIG welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret welding symbols.
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Mechanical assembly understanding.
  • Ability to execute verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Understanding of process improvement and attention to detail.

Additional Information

  • Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 1st shift from 6:00AM to 2:30PM.

What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
