Overview

Umicore is a global advanced materials and recycling group focused on developing, producing, and recycling materials for a better life. The Maintenance Technician role involves providing mechanical and electrical maintenance support to ensure safe and efficient operation of plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on plant equipment.
  • Complete assigned work orders safely and efficiently.
  • Execute preventive maintenance (PM) tasks to improve reliability and uptime.
  • Maintain and repair electrical systems, motors, control panels, and instrumentation.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new electrical systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical faults and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain pumps, valves, conveyors, rotating equipment, and mechanical systems.
  • Perform alignment, lubrication, and mechanical repairs.
  • Support equipment rebuilds and installations.
  • Support compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements.
  • Participate in PHAs, HAZOPs, SOP development, and safety reviews.
  • Follow OSHA and site safety procedures at all times.
  • Identify and implement improvements to reduce downtime and improve performance.
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process optimization.
  • Assist in developing maintenance procedures and training documentation.
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, and Contractors.
  • Support training and skill development across the maintenance team.
  • Foster teamwork and knowledge sharing across disciplines.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, technical certification (Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechanical), OR equivalent experience.
  • 2–5 years of maintenance experience (mechanical, electrical, or both) required.
  • 5–10 years of industrial/plant experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills (rotating equipment, piping, valves).
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance systems and work order management.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar systems preferred.

Additional Information

  • Rotating shift schedule.
  • Initial schedule: 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • The position will transition to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule, which may include: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. / 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. / 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. / 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
