Overview

PacifiCorp is seeking a Journeyman Hydro Mechanic to perform maintenance, repair, and special project installations at hydroelectric plants in Utah and Idaho. The role emphasizes customer service excellence and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repair, and special project installations at nine hydroelectric plants in Utah.
  • Assist with hydroelectric plants in Idaho as needed.
  • Maintenance and repair duties include cooling coil systems, radial gates, thrust and journal bearings, pumps, and more.
  • Perform vibration/alignment analysis and realignment when necessary.
  • Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform load rigging and lifting safely.
  • Analyze plant drawings for troubleshooting or project development.
  • Troubleshoot and identify operational issues requiring urgent repair.
  • Evaluate the condition of existing units and provide assessments to the maintenance foreman.
  • Assist the maintenance foreman with developing maintenance outage plans.
  • Assist with the development of scope for emergent projects.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of Journeyman experience in machine shop, pipe fitting, welding, hydraulics, pump repair, and industrial mechanics.
  • Certified welder with pressure vessel certification.
  • 5 years of power plant experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 18 semester hours in welding and related subjects.
  • 18 semester hours in machine shop and related subjects.
  • 6 semester hours in industrial mechanics.
  • 6 semester hours in trade math or equivalent.
  • Current CDL or ability to obtain one within 6 months of start date.
