Overview

The Aircraft Support Mechanic (ASM) is a critical TechOps role at Delta, responsible for maintaining the safe functioning of Delta’s fleet to ensure an exceptional travel experience for customers. This entry-level position offers opportunities to learn from experienced Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) and develop skills for career advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all work activities in accordance with established laws, regulations, standards, safety protocols, and procedures.
  • Conduct inspections to locate damage, defects, or wear that may affect safety, reliability, or customer experience.
  • Recommend replacement, repair, or modification of aircraft equipment based on inspection.
  • Report issues, malfunctions, unusual wear, or damage to appropriate personnel.
  • Test machinery, mechanical equipment, components, and parts for defects.
  • Install, remove, or modify aircraft structures, systems, or components following technical documentation.
  • Repair worn, defective, or damaged parts or components using hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems.
  • Interpret discrepancies or logs to understand the history and nature of issues.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals and guidelines to perform work activities.
  • Maintain repair logs documenting all preventative and corrective aircraft maintenance activities.
  • Interpret and use specifications, drawings, blueprints, or diagrams to complete work activities.
  • Research manuals, flight logs, or other technical resources to gather information needed for work activities.
  • Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be performing satisfactorily in the present position if transferring internally.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States.
  • Consistently prioritize safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
  • Embrace a diverse set of people, thinking, and styles.
  • Possess a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
