Overview

The Assembler Welder role involves performing welding and assembly operations on drilling rigs while adhering to safety guidelines and quality assurance methods.

Responsibilities

  • Weld components using blueprints.
  • Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings, or other written specifications.
  • Install and connect hydraulic controls, pumps, rams, and other system elements.
  • Mount, hook-up and connect engines, gear boxes, axles and other power components and units.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the assembly area and perform 5S activities.
  • Detect and report defective materials, faulty operation, and unusual conditions to immediate Supervisor.
  • Select materials and processes to be applied.
  • Set up and adjust equipment.
  • Weld in vertical, horizontal, flat, and overhead positions to make items of various sizes and shapes.
  • Brazes, flame-cuts, beads, heat treats, pressure, and tack welds.
  • Use hand and power tools of the welding trade.
  • When necessary, use templates in measuring, marking, scribing, and cutting.
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Identify and report safety risks.
  • Maintain work related records and reports.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed.
  • Train new hires.
  • Complete appropriate paperwork for rejected parts.
  • Return to Stock (RTS) non-required parts to the Warehouse.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Welding School Certificate is preferred.
  • 2+ years of welding experience.
  • Knowledge of mechanical components/systems.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic components/systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical components/systems.
  • Basic knowledge of troubleshooting.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office, ERP Systems, etc.
  • Knowledge of welding principles, weld drawings, and safe welding practices.
  • Knowledge of welding, cutting and grinding tools and their maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing preferred.
  • Able to use and comprehend specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Able to work individually or as part of a team.
