Overview

The Welder I position involves performing various welding operations on forging dies, tooling, and components while adhering to specified processes and safety protocols. The role requires attention to detail in inspecting completed work and maintaining a clean work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding operations on forging dies, tooling, and components using specified processes.
  • Conduct benching, grinding, blending, dressing, and finishing of welded areas and tooling surfaces.
  • Prepare surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and removing contaminants.
  • Inspect completed work visually to identify defects and irregularities.
  • Use grinders and power tools to remove excess weld material and achieve required shapes.
  • Set up and safely operate welding machines, grinders, and hand tools.
  • Follow approved welding procedures, work instructions, and supervisor direction.
  • Use proper lifting and material-handling practices when handling tooling and components.
  • Operate a forklift or other material-handling equipment when trained and assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly store tools and materials.
  • Inspect welding equipment and report unsafe or damaged equipment.
  • Wear required PPE and follow company safety rules and procedures.
  • Communicate job status, quality concerns, and safety issues to the supervisor.
  • Assist coworkers and other personnel to safely complete assigned work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
  • Follow daily procedures and protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.
