Overview

CB&I® is the world’s leading designer and builder of storage facilities, tanks and terminals. The Machine Operator Helper is responsible for assisting the machine operator with iron working machines used for clipping, cutting, and hole punching, and reports directly to the Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Regularly introspect, seek feedback and adapt behaviors for ongoing personal development.
  • Helps Machine Operator.
  • Sets up hoisting equipment, raising, and placing structural-steel members.
  • Fastens steel members to cable of hoist, using chain, cable, or rope.
  • Signals worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel members.
  • Guides member using tag line to position it.
  • Pulls, pushes, or pries steel members into approximate position.
  • Forces members into final position using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools.
  • Aligns bolt holes in steel member using drift pins or spud wrenches.
  • Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of members using plumb bob and level.
  • Bolts align members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded.
  • Cuts and welds steel members to make alterations using oxyacetylene welding equipment.
  • Loads, transports, unloads material, tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
  • Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Previous years of experience in fabrication and manufacturing.
  • Ability to plan work and select proper tools.
  • Ability to compare and see differences in size, shape and form of lines, figures, and objects.
  • Ability to picture solid objects from drawings or diagrams.
  • Ability to rate information using standards that can be measured or checked.
  • Ability to work at heights without fear.
  • Must be able to transfer numbers from work orders to material with stencils.
  • Must work well with others.

Additional Information

  • Standard work schedule is 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday), 10 hours a day.
  • Mandatory Overtime on weekends based on production needs.
