Overview

The Laborer position at Orion involves providing support to skilled craft workers at marine project locations. The role requires assisting Welders, Pipefitters, and other skilled workers while adhering to the company's core values of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Teamwork, and Integrity.

Responsibilities

• Works as assigned by the Barge Foreman to ensure successful completion of marine construction projects.
• Assists skilled craft workers such as Welders and Pipefitters in performing their duties.
• Moves work pieces, tools, and supplies manually or by hand truck.
• Cleans work pieces to remove impurities using various tools.
• Connects hoses from hand torch to cylinders or connects cables from power source to work piece.
• Starts gasoline engines to activate electric generators.
• Attaches grappling equipment to objects prior to movement by crane.
• Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms.
• Signals operators of construction equipment for alignment and adjustment.
• Levels earth to fine grade specifications.
• Mixes concrete using a portable mixer.
• Smooths and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete.
• Positions joints, aligns, and seals pipe sections.
• Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Mops, brushes, or spreads paints or bituminous compounds over surfaces.
• Performs various tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools.

Requirements

• A minimum of one year of construction or craft worker helper field experience is required.
• Previous experience in Welding, Pipefitting, Piledriving, or Carpentry is desirable.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
• Ability to understand and follow specific directions from supervision.
• Must complete any specific safety or job training required.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Capable of working within standards of accuracy dictated by the customer.
