Job Description

Seeking a lead metal fabricator with at least 5 years experience in ARCHITECTURAL METAL FABRICATION for making custom: furniture, sculpture, lighting and architectural items like: doors, planters, fireplace surrounds, and trim. No CNC experience required but CNC press brake experience is a big plus. We are not seeking a "Welder". Welding is important but it's a small part of the job requirements. Applicant must be a skilled welder as well as a versatile fabricator who's proficient in a wide array of tools, machinery and processes. A qualified applicant should also have a deep understanding of various metals and their unique qualities. Applicant must be proficient in: MIG/TIG welding, sheet metal fabrication and metal finishing like polishing and patina. You should be familiar with the industry standard finishes and how to create them. A qualified applicant should know basic machining (on manual Mill & Lathe) as well as familiarity with tube rolling/bending. Occasional heavy lifting is a requirement in this position. You should have experience operating a forklift and overhead crane. You MUST be: 100% reliable, comfortable working alone, a good problem solver and able to keep a clean and organized work space. We are a very small team in a large, clean, organized and well equipped shop. Regular work hours are M-F, 8:30 - 5:30 with a rare evenings or weekends to meet deadlines. 2 weeks PTO is included in your salary. Professional references and resume required. What you'll be running

This posting calls for MIG and TIG work. MIG (GMAW) feeds a continuous wire electrode through a shielding-gas nozzle. It lays down metal fast and is forgiving on clean material, which is why it dominates production and light fabrication work. TIG (GTAW) uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode with filler added by hand, giving the operator the most control of any process. It is slow, demanding, and the standard for stainless, aluminum, and anything where the bead has to look as good as it holds.
