Overview

Caribbean Food Delights, a high speed frozen food manufacturing plant located in Tappan, Rockland County, NY, is seeking a hands-on mechanic with a minimum of 5 years of related work experience for the first and second shifts. The role involves assisting in the upkeep of the plant's equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.

Responsibilities

• Follow and adhere to GMP and safety rules of the company.
• Check boilers and HVAC systems each morning and evening.
• Ensure air compressors and refrigeration systems are at correct temperatures at start-up.
• Disassemble and assemble kettles, start machines, and observe gauges to ensure adherence to processing standards.
• Disassemble and assemble Rademaker and Colborne lines using hand tools.
• Set dyes on Rademaker and Colborne lines according to specifications.
• Check lighting system throughout the plant weekly and replace bulbs as necessary.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on Sifters of both Silos monthly.
• Check equipment components for repair or replacement and clean and lubricate equipment regularly.
• Organize and maintain inventory of all components needed for maintenance.
• Examine all machines and equipment to ensure they are operating within specifications.
• Evaluate equipment performance and recommend improvements.
• Set up equipment and conveyors by adjusting to product specifications.
• Maintain packaging quality by inspecting in-process and finished production.
• Clean and lubricate equipment regularly and align equipment parts if necessary.
• Check for machine performance and keep records of repairs and maintenance.
• Perform repairs and general upkeep of the facility regularly.
• Order replacement parts and materials using the product order procedure.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports on an ongoing basis.
• Ensure all tools used during the workday are returned to the shop.
• Comply with OSHA/USDA/HACCP Safety and Health rules.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by Caribbean Food Delights.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Technical Training or equivalent.
• Minimum Five (5) Years Related Work Experience.
• Knowledge of installation, servicing, and repair of Production equipment and PLC.
• Ability to read schematics and diagrams, electrical and welding.
