The Fabricator role involves making, repairing, and adapting mechanical equipment with high precision under supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
  • Examines work pieces for defects and measures them to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Verifies conformance of work pieces to specifications using measuring tools.
  • Sets up and operates fabricating machines to form and assemble components.
  • Positions, aligns, fits, and welds parts to form complete units or subunits.
  • Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits.
  • Keeps work area clean.
  • Studies engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of monitoring gauges and indicators to ensure machine functionality.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders.
  • Knowledge of mathematics and its application.
