Overview

The Millwright position in Cartersville, GA involves building, assembling, repairing, and maintaining machinery in various settings such as factories and construction sites. The role requires mechanical proficiency and the ability to work with heavy equipment while ensuring safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Build or assemble, repair, or maintain machinery.
  • Transform metal pieces into functional elements using fabrication techniques.
  • Set-up, assemble, or disassemble job-specific machinery and equipment.
  • Control, manipulate, fabricate, and repair machinery and support structures.
  • Use hand, flag, and/or verbal signals to communicate with operators.
  • Drive commercial vehicles and perform maintenance or welding functions as necessary.
  • Install and maintain machinery using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts using hand tools.
  • Align machines and equipment using various tools and instruments.
  • Dismantle machinery for shipment and perform installation work.
  • Construct foundations for machines using hand tools and building materials.
  • Replace defective parts and adjust equipment for optimal performance.
  • Visually inspect and test materials for safety and reliability.
  • Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads.
  • Manipulate rigging lines and hoists to move or support materials.
  • Assist in fabrication and repair of rigging and supporting structures.
  • Dismantle, inspect, clean, and store equipment after use.
  • Operate vehicles or mechanized equipment such as forklifts.
  • Perform all other duties as necessary and assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Four years of experience required.
  • Ability to supervise and oversee the work of others.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and equipment.
  • Reading comprehension of blueprints, schematics, or technical manuals.
  • Ability to perform mathematical functions including fractions and decimals.
  • Familiarity with various hand or flag signals.
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety requirements.
  • Valid driver's license may be required for certain positions.

Additional Information

  • This is very physical, hands-on work.
  • Must be able to lift materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Willing to work in non-temperature-controlled environments and outdoors.
