Overview

This job is for a Welder position at a company founded over 40 years ago, based in Sacramento, providing specialty slurry products and equipment support to geotechnical contractors and industrial customers across the United States and North America.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, weld, modify, and repair industrial slurry-mixing and material-processing equipment.
• Weld carbon-steel equipment components using MIG, stick, flux-cored, and other applicable welding processes.
• Fabricate and repair equipment skids, tanks, hoppers, frames, platforms, handrails, pipe supports, manifolds, and structural components.
• Perform pipe fitting and welding on slurry, grout, water, and material-transfer systems.
• Read and work from fabrication drawings, blueprints, sketches, field measurements, and verbal instructions.
• Measure, lay out, cut, bevel, fit, tack, and weld components to the required dimensions.
• Inspect welds and fabricated components for alignment, fit, penetration, cracks, porosity, and other defects.
• Repair worn, cracked, corroded, or damaged equipment in the shop and at customer jobsites.
• Assist with equipment assembly, teardown, mobilization, installation, and commissioning.
• Use grinders, saws, torches, plasma cutters, drills, ironworkers, and other fabrication equipment.
• Perform safe rigging and material handling for tanks, pumps, piping, structural steel, and equipment assemblies.
• Coordinate with mechanics and electricians when modifying or repairing integrated equipment.
• Maintain welding machines, leads, torches, consumables, ventilation equipment, and assigned tools.
• Follow hot-work, fire-prevention, confined-space, fall-protection, and jobsite safety procedures.
• Travel and work extended hours when field repairs or project mobilizations require immediate support.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of industrial, structural, heavy-equipment, pipe, or field welding experience.
• Proficiency with MIG and stick welding; flux-cored and pipe-welding experience strongly preferred.
• Experience fabricating or repairing tanks, equipment skids, piping, frames, platforms, or heavy industrial components.
• Ability to read blueprints, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and measurements.
• Ability to fit and fabricate components independently from drawings or field measurements.
• Experience using cutting, grinding, drilling, and metal-forming equipment.
• Ability to produce sound welds in shop and outdoor field conditions.
• Ability to lift, climb, bend, kneel, and work around large equipment and active construction operations.
• Ability to travel for installations, mobilizations, and emergency repairs.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• AWS certifications, pipe-welding qualifications, OSHA training, forklift certification, and rigging credentials should be confirmed as required or preferred.

• Salary: $35 - $45 per hour
