Overview
MasTec Industrial and Phoenix Industrial have been serving the power industry since 1947, specializing in natural gas, oil, biomass, and waste-to-energy projects. The Combo Pipe Welder position involves joining various metal components using multiple welding processes while adhering to safety requirements and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, weld symbols, and other written instructions.
- Follow project specifications and Quality Control program documents.
- Perform GTAW, SMAW, FACW, GMAW and other mixed type of welds based on project needs.
- Field install welds for structural components and various types of piping.
- Select proper fillers for welding tasks based on specifications.
- Prepare welding surfaces to achieve proper joint detail.
- Assist pipe fitters with measurements and material preparation.
- Communicate with Foreman regarding problems, materials, or hazards.
- Work under production schedule pressure and attain set standards of accuracy.
Requirements
- 4+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma or GED Certification (preferred).
- Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
- Common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form.
- Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy.

Additional Information
- Full-Time position scheduled to work typically 50 hours per week.
- Travel required up to 90%.
